Summary
This week was supposed to be the peak of my training and not only the highest weekly mileage I’ve ever completed, but I ended up falling a bit short. Saturday and Sunday I joined a trip sponsored by Wild Side Cyprus, a company that leads trail running and sea swimming adventures all over the island. The organizers, whom I know from the Cyprus Trail Runners group, sent a message via Facebook a few weeks ago saying they had one spot remaining in a two-day, 95 kilometer/59mi trail run on April 8/9. I was a bit nervous and not completely sure I could go the distance, but I decided to join anyway.
The run went quite well for the first day, but unfortunately I got deathly ill that evening from something I ate (I think?) and ended up having to sit out for all but about 5 miles of the next day’s run. I’m a bit disappointed, but it was a good weekend of training nevertheless. I plan to write a “lessons learned” article exploring where I went wrong and how to avoid it next time.
Despite that, the views were absolutely amazing and I loved the route itself.
As always, see my Training Plan for the exact exercises I perform at each workout.
Until next week!
